Abstract:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

In the recent past, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare decision support systems has demonstrated the great potential of improving patient care, operational efficiency, and healthcare costs. Yet, there is a limitation in the explanation of how black-box AI models make decisions and create trust between healthcare professionals and patients. Instead, for AI to be effectively adopted, its recommendations must be transparent, interpretable, and credible in clinical practice. Blending the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) with Explainable AI (XAI) as a pathway to add transparency and trust to AI-driven healthcare decision systems is the focus of this talk. XAI makes AI models able to make accurate predictions and explain their decisions, which leads to establishing trust and accountability. However, IoMT achieves this by letting medical devices, sensors, and networks communicate in real-time so that AI systems can access accurate patient information.<\/span><\/p>

While integrating XAI and IoMT, healthcare systems can become more transparent and interpretable, guaranteeing that AI-driven decisions are reliable and meet the clinical criteria for ethical decision-making. This integration allows people working on the healthcare side to understand and validate AI recommendations to make informed decisions with the confidence that a process is being followed. In the end, blending XAI and IoMT for healthcare can only lead to transforming patient outcomes and the operational efficiency of healthcare and reinforce confidence in using AI-powered systems.<\/span><\/p>

Biography:<\/span><\/p>

Dr. Sagheer Abbas is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, KSA. As a senior member of IEEE and Vice Chair of IEEE CIS-Lahore, Elsevier and Stanford University recognize him as a top 2% Scientist. Dr. Abbas earned his PhD in Computer Science in 2016, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Robot Navigation, and boasts over 10 years of teaching and 8 years of industry experience. His expertise spans machine learning, computational intelligence, intelligent system design, smart cities, federated machine learning, explainable AI, and blockchain technologies. He has successfully supervised more than 24 PhD students across various domains and has published over 180 research articles in high-impact journals. Dr. Abbas has organized three IEEE international conferences in Dubai, reflecting his leadership and organizational acumen. His research efforts have earned funding from HEC Pakistan and local industries, underscoring his dedication to innovation.
