Abstract:
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, reliance on online and cyberspace alternatives had been significantly increased as the individuals had been made to work from remote locations/homes. As a result, many individuals had been working on their own computers using their own IT equipment. The massive shift towards remote working had increased the risk to cyber-attacks and also generated the enormous amount of Texts. Videos and voice data. The pandemic is seen as an opportunity by the cyber-attackers to perform their cybercriminal activities by exploiting the vulnerabilities of the remote workers’ systems and taking advantage of the people’s keen interest in COVID related news. E.g., Malicious COVID news related websites were designed by the attackers to steal people’s personal information and multimedia data. The increased risk of cyber-attacks requires more focus on cybersecurity specifically after the pandemic. This talk aims to discuss related cyber-attacks, and what measures the organizations can take to provide a secure online/ remote working environment.
