Abstract:
AI has the potential to benefit numerous application domains. However, AI can introduce substantial ethical and technical risks and uncertainties. Application developers, researchers, and individuals need to be aware of the ethical, technical, and social concerns associated with AI systems and applications. AI can operate unfairly, particularly when trained on biased or inappropriate data or where the model or algorithm is not fit-for-purpose. The values embedded in algorithms, as well as the choice of problems to be solved by AI systems and applications, can be intentionally or inadvertently shaped by developers’ and stakeholders’ worldviews and cognitive biases. The ethical, technical, and social concerns can be addressed through an inclusive, interdisciplinary, and diverse approach considering all the stakeholders and using international standards. This talk will provide an overview of the current AI standardization landscape and introduces the important standards to consider in developing secure and trustworthy AI applications.
